Mixed media intro, creating facial expressions, and also doing a quick 'animal study', and also techniques with oil pastels and water tempera. Great work by the kids today!
The first thing the students acquainted themselves with were each other! Followed by learning to draw with chalk pastels- learning to blend colors, but also to look at another person in the class, and draw them.
Learning to observe others features, and what makes them unique & recognizable! They did wonderful job drawing each others Here, students began to learn NEW TECHNIQUES! Using paint, and painting FREELY, balancing colors, and then pressing the piece with a paper towel...creating textures on the painting as well as a 'NEW' piece of pressed art work from the paint absorbed on the towel!

After learning a bit about 'mediums', like colored pencils, pastels, paints, another assignment involved MIXED MEDIA (more than one source of an art medium). If the students chose to use 1 or more mediums, they were to create a piece of art of their PET(S)!
Another assignment was to create a VISUALIZATION of something they learned, or remembered from their day!
They learned that ILLUSTRATING is a VISUAL WAY OF STORY TELLING! And they were then supposed to ILLUSTRATE and express ideas of something they remembered that happened during the day, and visually tell a story about it! |
